Counsolero is an AI study companion for students. It connects to your Canvas account and turns your own coursework — assignments, files, pages, modules, and the syllabus — into tutoring chat, practice quizzes, flashcards, and study guides. Answers are grounded in the material your course actually assigned, rather than in general model knowledge.
How does Counsolero connect to my Canvas account?
You authorize the connection yourself through Canvas, and Counsolero syncs the course content you already have access to. Nothing is written back to Canvas — Counsolero does not submit assignments, post to discussions, or change your grades. You can disconnect at any time from Settings, and export or delete your data whenever you want.
Does Counsolero train AI models on my data?
No. Counsolero never uses your personal information, your Canvas data, your chat history, your uploaded files, or any other content you provide to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or benchmark AI models — ours or anyone else's. The AI providers Counsolero uses publish terms committing not to use customer inputs for model training, and those terms apply to our use of their services.
How does Counsolero handle FERPA and student records?
Counsolero handles student education records as a school official under FERPA, acting on behalf of the school for a legitimate educational interest. Education records are never used for marketing or advertising, never used to build profiles for behavioral advertising, and never sold or shared for any commercial purpose. Counsolero has a free tier, and it is the entry point — you can connect Canvas and start studying without paying. Schools that want to sponsor access for their students can arrange that directly through the contact page.
Is Counsolero accessible?
Counsolero targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, and we publish a VPAT describing where the product meets that standard and where it does not.
